FIELD MANUAL

HOW TO PLAY

Wake up in the cabin, get ready, hunt, track your deer, haul it home and put it on the wall. Everything here costs time, energy or noise. Read this before your first morning.

CHOOSE YOUR GROUND

The Maps

Pick a map from the main menu. Start Hunt opens the last map you played.

Your Morning

Every day starts in the dark, about 45 minutes before first shooting light. Everything you do inside uses game time.

1

Eat breakfast · Kitchen

Build a plate from 45 foods and drinks: eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, oatmeal, cereal, donuts, coffee, water, energy drinks and more.

Protein & oats

Slow-burn energy that carries you for hours.

Sugar

Donuts, cereal, pancakes. Quick boost, then a crash.

Coffee & energy drinks

Raise heart rate. Jittery hands, more crosshair movement.

Water & sports drinks

Keep you hydrated. Thirst adds sway.

+ Pack puts trail snacks and drinks in your pack (5 slots) for the field.

2

Get dressed · Gear Closet

Layer up, liner socks to jacket. The forecast tells you whether you will be cold or sweating while sitting and while walking.
Too little
You shiver and your aim gets shaky.
Too much
You sweat while walking. Wet layers go cold when you stop.
Cotton
Holds sweat. Merino and synthetics wick it away.
Noisy gear
Rain shells and parkas are easier for deer to hear.
Heavy gear
Bibs and pac boots slow you down.
Required
Boots, pants and a base layer top before you can leave.

Suggested fills a balanced outfit. Yesterday's repeats your last one.

3

Find your tag

Your deer tag is hidden somewhere in the cabin, in a different spot every day. The counter, the couch, the table, the floor. Get close, look at it and press E.

THE DOOR STAYS SHUT

You can't leave until you have your tag and you're dressed.

Staying Alive Out There

Energy
Drains walking, sprinting, dragging and shivering. Low energy: slower walk, no sprint, shaky aim.
Water
Drains over time, faster when sweating. Thirst adds sway.
Core temp
Clothing vs. weather, wind and how hard you are working.
Heart rate
Caffeine, sprinting, cold and buck fever. Higher heart rate, more scope sway.
Tag
No tag, tag ready, or tag filled.

Press B in the field to eat or drink from your pack. Go back to the cabin kitchen to refuel properly.

BUCK FEVER

When a big buck is in your scope, your heart rate jumps. Hold your breath (Shift) to steady the shot.

FIRST LIGHT

Hunting

Play the wind, move slow and let the deer show themselves.

Wind matters

Deer smell you when the wind blows from you to them. Watch the wind arrow.

Move slowly

Running is loud. Crouch (C) or go prone (Z) to stay hidden.

Glass the edges

Meadow and timber edges at dawn and dusk.

Flashlight (L)

Helps in the dark, but deer notice the light.

Bleat call (Q)

Can stop a deer for a look.

Legal light

30 min before sunrise to 30 min after sunset. The clock shows when you are legal.

Bullet drop, wind drift and energy loss are all modeled. Press H for the dope chart, and use the rangefinder (F) before a long shot.

TRACKING

After the Shot

A hit deer might not drop on the spot. Shot placement decides how far it runs. Follow the blood trail.

BAD HITS WOUND

Wounded deer run. Slow down, read the sign and stay on the trail, or lose him.

HE DOESN'T COUNT UNTIL HE'S HOME

Tagging & Hauling

1

Tag him

Walk up to your downed buck and press E. You get one tag per day, and the unit is buck-only.
2

Get him home

E Rope-drag

Slow and tiring. No sprinting, big energy burn. E again drops the rope.

G ATV rack

Strap him to the back and drive home. G near the ATV also unloads.

3

Deliver

Bring him within about 12 m of the cabin door (the ATV has to be stopped). He's delivered and goes in your Trophy Room.

Lost track of where you left him? Open the map (M). Tagged deer show in orange.

SHOOTING LIGHT ENDS

Night & Next Day

Head back to the cabin and sleep in the bunk. You wake at 5:30 AM with a new tag hidden somewhere in the cabin. Eat, dress and find it again.

SCI SCORING

Trophies & Scoring

Every buck's antlers are unique, and every rack is scored inch by inch.

PROCEDURAL ANTLERS

rackGen™

Every rack in Deer Hunter 2027 is grown by rackGen, built for mule deer and blacktail. No two bucks share a rack. Each antler is modeled from curves, and the score is measured from that geometry. What you see on the buck is exactly what goes in the book.

Taper profiles

2.25T

Tine combos per archetype

7 curve styles × 5 tapers on 8 tines (G1–G4, both sides) is 2.25 trillion shape combos per archetype before a single length is rolled. Beam length, tine length, mass, spread, curl and fork tilt are all continuous values on top of that. 1M+ is an understatement.

Beam Archetypes

Typical

Classic balanced mule deer frame.

Swept

Wide and laid back, heavier beams.

Upright

Tall and narrow with long forks.

Curved

Beams that hook back in at the tips.

Straight

Long, flat beams reaching out wide.

Kicked

Beams that kick out low, then turn in.

Spike

Single points, no forks. Mostly young bucks.

Mass Freak

Older bucks only. Huge bases, fewer forks.

Forked Horn

Mature 2x2 genetics, sometimes with a G3 nub. 12% of mature blacktails, 4% of mature mule deer.

How a Rack Grows

Seeded
Every buck carries a seed and an age. The exact same rack is rebuilt in the Trophy Room.
Age tables
Six age classes per species set beam, tine and mass ranges. Blacktails run smaller and narrower.
Genetics
A per-buck genetics roll scales the whole rack, so two 5-year-olds can look nothing alike.
Per-tine shape
Each G1–G4 on each side picks its own curve and taper. Sides are never perfect mirrors (±6%).
Non-typicals
Extra points get more likely with age, up to about 1 in 3 for the oldest bucks. Drop tines happen.
Freaks
About 1 in 70 mature bucks grows 3–8 abnormal points per side.
World Record
Genetics boosted 1.45–1.55×, a clean typical frame with every point.

How It's Scored

SCI TOTAL

Both main beams + every typical point 1" or longer + all abnormal points + H1–H4 mass circumferences on each side + inside spread.

Inside spread credit is capped at the length of the longest main beam.

WESTERN COUNT

Points per side not counting eye guards, so a classic buck reads 4x4 and a forked horn reads 2x2. A point has to reach 1" to count.

Below Bronze is a Meat Buck. Still a deer on the wall.

FROM THE CABIN

Quick Tips

  1. 01A real breakfast (eggs, meat, toast, water) beats a donut and an energy drink.
  2. 02Dress for sitting still if you plan to glass, lighter if you plan to walk a lot.
  3. 03Skip the cotton t-shirt.
  4. 04Take the ATV on long hunts. Dragging a 200 lb buck a mile will drain you.
  5. 05Be patient. This game is hard, like real hunting.
